Through the initiative of the Office of Students Services (OSS), the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines (MCNP) and International School of Asia and the Pacific (ISAP) celebrated Nutrition Month virtually on July 31, 2021 via MCNP-ISAP Facebook (FB) page.

With the theme “Malnutrisyon patuloy na labanan, First 1000 days tutukan!”, various activities like Zumba Dance Tiktok Contest, Photography Making Contest, and Song Adaptation Contest were conducted.

Four teams – Blue, Green, Red, and White, consisted of different departments and colleges were organized to participate on the said activities.

Blue team – College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and 2 Year Courses won the Photography Making, and Song Adaptation Contest, while Red Team – College of Arts, Sciences and Teacher Education, College of Criminal Justice Education, and College of Information Technology and Engineering earned the Zumba Dance Tiktok Contest.

The virtual celebration intended to raise health awareness, promote the “gulayan sa bakuran” as part of the continuity program, and encourage students for a healthier lifestyle.

“Nutrition Month Celebration serves as a reminder that each of us should learn to make healthier food choices. These choices constitute our ability to determine the right amount of nutrition and the direct engagement in collaborative health lifestyle.”, said Mr. Aristotle Gonzales, MAEd, OSS Dean.

Nutrition Month is an annual campaign held every July to create greater awareness among Filipinos on the importance of nutrition as provided under Presidential Decree (PD) 491, or the Nutrition Act of the Philippines. The National Nutrition Council (NNC) was tasked to lead and coordinate the nationwide campaign.
