The Founder's Profile

Dr. Ronald P. Guzman

Dr. Ronald P. Guzman is the founder of the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines (MCNP) and the International School of Asia and the Pacific (ISAP). A physician by profession, he graduated from Far Eastern University and placed sixth in the 1970 Physician Licensure Examination. Throughout his career, he has served in various academic and professional capacities, including as Dean of the Graduate School of Law at San Beda College, Chair of the Department of Jurisprudence and Legal Philosophy at the Philippine Judicial Academy, and Professor VI at Cagayan State University.

Rather than pursue opportunities elsewhere, Dr. Guzman returned to his hometown in Cagayan to serve local communities through healthcare and education. Together with his wife, Dr. Wilma Roa-Guzman, he established healthcare facilities that would later grow into major institutions serving the region.

Recognizing that education is a powerful tool for improving lives, Dr. Guzman founded MCNP to provide accessible, high-quality education, particularly for students from underserved communities. As educational needs expanded, he and Dr. Wilma later established ISAP, broadening opportunities for learners in various academic disciplines.

Today, the legacy of Dr. Ronald P. Guzman continues through the institutions he founded, which remain committed to academic excellence, community service, and the development of future professionals who contribute meaningfully to society.
