MCNP – ISAP holds Virtual Campus Journalism Seminar
Alimannao, Peñablanca – At least 100 campus journalists in MCNP-ISAP partook on the Online Seminar on Campus Journalism via Zoom Meeting, May 6, 2021.
The said activity aimed to elevate the wealth of campus journalism and its significance to the professional field and society, with the theme, “Exploring Journalism as Art, Practice, and Responsibility amidst the Pandemic”.
The seminar was graced with invited speakers who were professionals in their line of expertise; In the morning, Ms. Rhodora Romero, adviser of CSU Communicator tackles the concept of journalism before and how it develops today while Ms. Yna Nicole Gabrinao, a freelance SEO, and content writer talked about the role of journalism in choosing a profession.
In the last part of the activity, Ms. Lumine Plena Umoso, the City Information Officer of LGU Tuguegarao emphasized the importance of being a responsible journalist through media literacy.
Meanwhile, Ma’am Winnie Cancejo, OIC – Vice President for Academic Affairs, shared her experience as a former feature writer in her school days.
She inspired each student and emphasized that being a writer was a passion.
She also added that with this challenging time, MCNP-ISAP students need to act as mighty eagles.
“Like a mighty eagle, you are expected to be resilient, you are expected to be proactive, to be creative and innovative,” Cancejo said.
Indeed, journalism is a vital tool to address issues and to inform a wide range of people. Most especially, during this current situation, in which, every society is continuously dealing with an unceasing dilemma.
