MCNP-ISAP Employees hold Tree Planting Activity to combat environmental issues
The Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines and the International School of Asia and the Pacific conducted a tree planting activity in Quibal, Peñablanca on January 7, 2021 after experiencing series of flooding the in Cagayan Province last 2020.
This Greening Program entitled, “ Oplan Kalikasan: A Tree Legacy Program”, is in partnership with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Cagayan and the Barangay Local Government Unit of Quibal, Peñablanca, which aims to support the Greening Program of the Government and to combat the issues of climate change that brought disastrous effects in the environment.
Mr. Lowie Palatan, the ISAP Community extension said, “Because of climate change, we have been experiencing flooding and different environmental disasters. Thus, in responding with those issues, it is the right time that we should help protect the environment and plant more trees.”
Also, despite the pandemic, the school is still aware of its responsibility to take care of the environment.
“While the province is currently under the General Community Quarantine, some guidelines are relaxed that enables the MCNP-ISAP employees to engage in the activity”, he added.
During the activity, General Education Instructors, Information and Communication Technology and General Services Office Staff, and Barangay Quibal Chairwoman Tin Taguinod planted over hundreds of fruit and non-fruit bearing trees in the site.
The Community Extension Office will conduct another tree planting activity on February 2021 in the same area.
